Position Summary
The QA Technician is responsible for inspections, measurements, and reports related to the production of quality and wholesome food products.
Essential Functions
• Takes temperatures and weights of products in process; records on appropriate paperwork
• Checks dates and times printed on packaged product; records
• Completes pre-operational inspections to procedure
• Performs required quality testing on ingredients in QA Lab.
• Audits trained individuals to ensure conformance of monitoring on the production floor
• Observes operation of X-ray and Metal Detector machines, records results
• Ensures HACCP and GMP guidelines are being followed
• Ensures Production area is kept clean according to appropriate company and governmental guidelines
• Ensures safe handling of food products, which may include ensuring product is packaged properly and that time and temperature guidelines are being followed
• Audits incoming raw materials for freshness and conformance to specifications
• Ensures product conforms to recipe specifications
• Compiles reports and files paperwork
• Follows all safety rules
• Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
• QA experience or equivalent preferred
• Resume needed for review
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; must be able to use a calculator
• Must have proven attention to detail
• Must be able to work flexible hours and schedules
• Basic food-safety knowledge
Nonessential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to speak Spanish is helpful
• 6 months of previous food-handling experience is desirable
Physical Demands and Work Environment
• Must be able to walk, reach, bend, and climb steps
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Exposed to hot and cold temperatures, including working in refrigeration and freezer units
• Works in a wet environment
• Hearing protection is required
Documentation and Procedures
The following Procedures will be performed:
1. Safety Rules and GMP's in area.
2. Attendance and training records.
3. SOPs for production.
4. Production Personnel Protective Equipment.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The starting rate for this full-time, hourly position is $17.00.
