How you will make history here…
The Sr. Maintenance Technician will maintain and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and processes supporting production activities associated with the Pilot Plant and R&D Operations, including execution and coordination of preventive and corrective maintenance, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies for enhancement of existing assets. In addition, you will provide oversight of contractors in support of capital improvements.
What you will do…
- 30%- Support production activities through machine and process configuration and changeover. Troubleshoot by determining root cause and steps to eliminate reoccurrence.
- 20%- PLC and HMI troubleshooting and enhancements
- 20%- General maintenance tasks as assigned
- 10%- Assist in project implementations through contractor scheduling and oversight.
- 10%- Documentation of work tasks associated with equipment, systems, and processes within the Computer Maintenance & Management System
- 10%- Support & deliver safety requirements
- Provide support to operations in running machines at centerline conditions, standard speeds etc. to maximize productivity. Maintain spares as needed to insure that equipment is available when required.
- Maintain and troubleshoot process control and electrical distribution systems for reliable operation of plant manufacturing. Significant expertise in analyzing and determining equipment and process failures and ability to expeditiously return them to working service. In-depth knowledge of electrical control devices and circuitry in association with programmable logic controls and machine interfaces.
- Technicians will be expected to take and active role in learning the equipment, process and systems. Participate in Safety Program and organizational improvement teams (Safety Committee, Quality Improvements, Production/Cost Reduction teams)
- Actively share their knowledge to train/mentor other team members, including both maintenance and operations to foster their development, including required safety training, control systems and troubleshooting capabilities as required.
- Job duties may also include fabricating parts, operating machining equipment such as lathes, grinders and welders.
- Machine interface is not responding. Must be able to determine fault (i.e. bad screen, communication hardware, communication software, software configuration
- Steam injection system not maintaining proper temperature. Must be able to determine cause and plan to resolve issue expeditiously. Utilize knowledge of temperature measuring device, PLC, temperature control valve.
- Retort time and temperature not responding to controller. Must be able to determine which component in the system has failed (i.e. RTD, pneumatic valve, PLC)
- Can line system to be reconfigured to produce 303 x 500 size containers. Changeover production equipment to guarantee expected product specifications and food safety requirements.
- Take an existing machine, in this case filler, and modify design, controls, to suit Plant applications. Develop PM plan and perform necessary maintenance as part of installation and commissioning process.
- Power outage has caused software and machine outages. Must be able to identify impacted equipment and as necessary locate most recent copy of application and reload into machine interface or PLC to continue operation.
- Detailed record keeping of all preventive and corrective maintenance activities on a daily basis. These activities must meet or exceed USDA, FDA and Process Safety regulations.
- Develop and lead training activities in reference to safety programs for Plant and Operations employees in conjunction with Safety/QA Manager.
