The Production Supervisor will be responsible for their shift following an alternating work schedule (12hr shifts). Under the direction of the Operations Manager, this individual will coach front-line leadership and engage hourly technicians in plant-wide initiatives, including Continuous Improvement Projects and High-Performance Organization (HPO) initiatives. Additionally, this role is responsible for ensuring safety, product quality, line efficiency, budgetary goals, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and organizational capability/employee morale. The individual will lead in a High-Performance Organization to execute strategies aligned with the department across all shifts.
What you will do…
Direction and Priorities: Ensure clear direction and priorities for the business unit and that these are aligned with the site for all shifts.
Teamwork and Budgeting: Develop and maintain teamwork plan and budget
Labor Management: Manage direct and indirect labor efficiently
Leadership Development: Develop Team Leaders, Service Leaders, and all other leadership
Training and Coaching: Provide training, coaching, and facilitation
Safety Management: Manage the Safety system within assigned area
Daily Management Systems: Lead the development of key daily management systems in the business unit such as DDS, CL, RCFA and Operational Standards documentation
Communication:
- Communicate business unit results and needs to senior management
- Organizational Leadership: Provide organizational leadership appropriate to foster positive employee relations and meeting the evolving needs of the business
- KPI Tracking: Track and gap results vs. work plan and budget for all KPI's including safety and quality
Strategic Planning:
- Involved in all activities including daily management, budgeting, strategic planning, TDC initiatives, enabler planning and execution and the capital forecasting process
- Cross-Functional Relationship Building: Interface with multiple functions within the plant, as well as WHQ Engineering, Process Safety, Product Development, Reliability and annual network teams
Scope & Complexity:
Base Business Focus: Leading and coordinating activities with the team to achieve KPIs on Safety, Quality, Customer Service (schedule compliance and attainment), Reliability (OEE and changeovers), Cost (Yield, material management), and People (Talent development, coaching/feedback to correct and support behaviors).
Project/Breakthrough Focus: Participating in and/or leading elements in strategic planning for the broader operations department on the operational excellence platform, including equipment operational strategies, talent development, crewing, flexibility, and team structure.
SQCPDM: Managing the business unit across all three shifts, focusing on Safety, Quality, Cost, Production, Delivery, and Morale.
What you bring to the table…
- High school diploma/GED required, with 1-3 years of supervisory experience or 2+ years of operations experience in a manufacturing environment OR Bachelor's degree required
- Must be able to work an alternating work schedule – day shift 6am-630pm – alternating 36hrs one week and 48hrs the next week
It would be nice if you have…
- 2+ years of operations leadership experience (Operations Supervisor, Operations Team Lead, Sr Operations level role) within a manufacturing environment
- Expertise in overseeing daily operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and adherence to quality standards.
- Cross functional operations experience with a strong understanding of various plant functions
Physical Requirements:
Must stand or walk for approximately 75-80% of each shift.
Sitting may be required episodically for administrative tasks.
Occasionally required to bend, reach, and climb
Some tasks may involve repetitive motions (e.g., data entry, lifting, handling) and standing in static postures.
Must be able to lift/move up to 50 lbs., typically over short distances
Environmental Conditions
Noise levels are typically moderate; hearing protection is required.
Exposure to warm environments, such as production floors with ovens or cooking equipment, which may require working near heat sources for extended periods.
