General Job Description
The Packer is responsible for manually packing products into boxes, trays, and cartons on the production floor, while performing final quality inspections of finished goods.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare cardboard cartons and trays by folding, taping, sorting, labeling, and placing them in the work area.
Ensure tape guns and tapers have sufficient tape.
Visually inspect final product packaging for integrity, including bag registration, code dates, prices, and proper seals.
Remove out-of-specification products and report packaging issues.
Fill cartons and displays according to packaging specifications, ensuring correct labels, tapes, and seals.
Stack cartons and trays on pallets using the correct pattern; use pallet jack for loads up to 300 lbs if applicable.
Clear loose product from the work area, discard defective packaging, and maintain cleanliness.
Assist with product rework as needed.
Follow safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) procedures.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to 5S protocols.
Store packaging supplies in designated areas.
Keep aisles and exits clear of obstructions.
Remove trash and follow safe lifting and carrying procedures.
Perform sanitation tasks such as equipment washes and seasoner cleanings.
Prepare production line for startup and assist with equipment changeovers.
Operate tray-making and stapling machines when required.
Obtain Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) certification and follow LOTO procedures during cleanings.
Report issues to Machine Operators, Coordinators, or Supervisors.
Identify and remove defective products from the production stream.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Mandatory overtime may be required.
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
Experience:
One year of production experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.
