Machinist Tech is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual and/or CNC machines to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role supports safe, efficient manufacturing operations and continuous improvement efforts. This position requires extensive knowledge of fabricating components as well as and use of machinery to complete tasks.
Required Technical Skills:
1. Ability to complete welding tasks as assigned
2. Complete welding specific skills assessment
3. Proficient in operating CNC Mill & Lathes
4. Read, interpret, and build base upon technical drawings/blueprints
5. Able to proficiently operate all needed machinery to complete tasks
6. Proficient in mechanical and/or electrical tasks
7. Math skills to take precise measurements and make calculations
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Set up and operate manual and/or CNC Mill & CNC Lathes
2. Assist all production and electrical/mechanical personnel as needed
3. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions
4. Select appropriate tools, speeds, and feeds for each job
5. Measure and inspect parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers gauges)
6. Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting
7. Ensure parts meet quality and dimensional requirements
8. Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work area
9. Document production and inspection results as required
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
At least 5 years as an experienced machinist in a manufacturing or machine shop environment
Ability to read and understand blueprints and GD&T
Proficiency with precision measuring tools
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Able to proficiently complete a machinist skills test
Knowledge and understanding of shop safety practices and safety rules, regulations, and requirements
Understanding of Campbells' Technical Programs & Policies
Understanding of the National Electric Code
Ability to identify issues and determine repairs that are needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical degree or certificate in Machining or Manufacturing Technology
CNC machining experience (setup and operation)
Experience with CAM software
Familiarity with multiple machine types (mills, lathes, multi-axis machines)
Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
Provide technical support to engineering projects
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The starting rate for this full-time, hourly position is $33.80 p/hr.
