Job Summary
The Operations Safety Coordinator supports workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and employee training programs. This role partners with leadership and employees to promote a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company requirements, maintain safety records, conduct investigations, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Administer safety programs and ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, environmental, and company requirements.
• Coordinate and deliver safety training, onboarding, and awareness programs.
• Conduct facility inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
• Maintain safety records, OSHA logs, reports, and compliance documentation.
• Monitor injury and incident trends and recommend corrective actions.
• Support Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Hazard Communication (HazCom), and other safety programs.
• Partner with management and employees to identify and mitigate workplace risks.
• Assist with regulatory inspections, audits, and workers' compensation investigations.
• Promote continuous improvement and a positive safety culture.
• Support site safety committees and day-to-day EHS activities.
• Serve as backup for essential safety functions in the absence of the Operations Safety Manager.
Qualifications
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of safety, environmental, manufacturing, or related experience.
• Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Strong communication, training, investigation, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Physical Requirements
• Stand, walk, and climb stairs throughout the facility.
• Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
• Use computers and office equipment for extended periods.
• Perform inspections, audits, investigations, and training activities throughout the facility.
• Occasionally bend, kneel, and stoop.
Work Environment
• Manufacturing and office environment.
• Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, dust, and oils typical of food manufacturing facilities.
• Minimal travel may be required.
