Bakery Processing Operator

Location: Hanover, Pennsylvania

Shift: 2nd Shift | 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM Monday - Friday

Starting Pay: $22.50/hour + $1.00 Shift Differential

HOW YOU WILL MAKE HISTORY HERE…

As a Bakery Processing Operator, you will help produce high-quality bakery products by safely and efficiently operating processing equipment while ensuring a continuous flow of product to packaging lines. Your attention to quality, safety, and operational excellence will directly contribute to meeting production goals and delivering exceptional products to customers.

WHAT YOU WILL DO…

  • Operate bakery processing equipment to produce products within established quality and food safety standards.
  • Properly mix ingredients and monitor product temperature, moisture levels, mix times, and ingredient weights.
  • Make equipment and process adjustments to maintain product quality and consistency.
  • Monitor production flow and remove improperly formed or non-conforming products.
  • Read and follow batch sheets, recipes, and production instructions accurately.
  • Operate, shut down, and perform changeovers on bakery processing equipment according to established procedures.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance activities and basic troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Monitor for potential foreign material contamination and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Communicate quality, safety, or operational issues to leadership and team members.
  • Complete required production records, logs, and documentation accurately.
  • Follow sanitation procedures during cleanups and changeovers, including proper chemical handling.
  • Track, manage, and properly dispose of production waste.
  • Move raw materials and ingredients using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate raw material inventory levels and communicate material needs to appropriate personnel.
  • Unload raw material deliveries and trailers safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor seasoning application levels and make adjustments when applicable.
  • Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards by keeping work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, report defective equipment, and immediately report workplace injuries.
  • Support mandatory overtime and perform additional duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE… (MUST HAVE)

  • Ability to safely operate in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions, recipes, batch sheets, and operational procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and food safety.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining focus and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions within established guidelines.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, humidity, moving machinery, and varying production conditions.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.

IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE… (NICE TO HAVE)

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous manufacturing, food production, bakery, or processing experience.
  • Experience operating processing or production equipment.
  • Experience with troubleshooting equipment and performing minor adjustments.
  • Forklift and/or pallet jack operating experience.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Experience with preventative maintenance, changeovers, and production documentation.
  • Continuous improvement or 5S experience.

Physical & Work Environment

  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, carrying, and repetitive motion activities.
  • Continuous use of hands and frequent material handling activities.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds continuously and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Heavier lifting may be required with assistance.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment, wet and humid conditions, and elevated noise levels.
  • Occasional exposure to heights, airborne particles, and cleaning chemicals.

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
